Dubbed “The Great American Off-Road Race”, The Mint 400's demanding terrain is the perfect testing grounds for the Camburg + MagnaFlow team. Each year the course gets tougher, allowing us to assess and validate our products in the harshest of environments.
For this year’s Mint, The MagnaFlow Group set out to test our Camburg KINETIK race chassis, steering, brakes, rotors, shock absorbers, and MagnaFlow Race Mufflers.

Qualifying
Team Camburg + MagnaFlow began the race week by laying down the fastest qualifying time for the Unlimited SPEC class with a lap time of 6:28.225. Driver Kyle Jergensen and Co-Driver Shawn Shanks’ effort was also good enough for the 7th starting spot overall.

In a race where track position and early momentum can make all the difference, the strong qualifying run along with new mixed starting position put the team exactly where they wanted to be heading into one of the toughest off-road races in the country.
Race Day
Beginning the day behind six Unlimited 2WD/4WD, the team made quick work during the first of four laps, moving into fourth place overall behind back-to-back defending champion Adam Householder, Brett Sourapas, and Tracy Graf. On lap two, Kyle and Shawn continued to chip away, moving into third overall behind Householder and desert racing legend Ryan Arciero.

While the ultimate goal is to secure and take home a SPEC class win, it became evident that the overall win was a realistic possibility. On lap three, Team Camburg + MagnaFlow began making their move, trimming the lead of Householder down to just over a minute heading into the final lap.
As Jergensen would say post-race, their mindset was to stay consistent and mistake-free. When racing against trucks with twice the amount of horsepower and twice the top speed, limiting driver errors is key.
Shortly into the fourth and final lap, Team Camburg + MagnaFlow would have their consistency pay off. With the Jergensen and Shanks continuing to push the pace and gain ground, the Householder team had issues that opened up the opportunity for Kyle and Shawn to take the lead.

After moving into the overall lead, Jergensen and Shanks were able to continue their mistake-free day and cross the finish first physically and on time.
For the first time in the history of the Great American Off-Road race, an Unlimited SPEC truck overalled The Mint 400.
History Made.
The win marked several industry firsts for MagnaFlow Group products as well:
- First overall for Camburg KINETIK Race Chassis
- First overall for Camburg KINETIK Shock Absorbers, comprising the latest patent pending external bypass, coil over, and bump stops
- First overall for Camburg KINETIK Brakes and Rotors
- First overall for MagnaFlow Race Mufflers

“We made no mistakes, no flats, no nothing. The truck was perfect, the team was perfect. That won us the Mint today, no mistakes.”
Jergensen had rave reviews for his truck. “The KINETIK shocks were consistently good all day, no shock fade. No feedback in the steering, even in the sharp Mint 400 terrain. [I’m} glad to show what the 222 is capable of with an overall win.”

The win makes it four-in-a-row for Jergensen/Shanks and Team Camburg + MagnaFlow. Out in the harsh Nevada desert, The MagnaFlow Group once again found the real-world proving ground needed to keep refining our products, from our now OVERALL race-winning shocks and brakes to the all-new MagnaFlow Race Mufflers.
