Jay Leno (pictured, Larry Chen photos), the former host of “The Tonight Show” and reknowned automotive enthusiast, took a 7300 class win in his Mint 400 debut with a nearly stock Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro (below). Leno drove the first loop with navigator Ryan Millen before handing off to his co-driver, builder/racer Jerry Zaiden, for the final leg.
Leno’s Mint 400 experience will be featured in an upcoming episode of the Emmy-winning “Jay Leno’s Garage.”

The Mint 400 announced today that Jay Leno will be racing The 2017 Polaris RZR Mint 400 presented by BFGoodrich Tires in a nearly stock Camburg Engineering built Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro. An avid automotive enthusiast, Leno will start the race with Ryan Millen as his co-driver and then hand over driving duties to builder/racer Jerry Zaiden who will finish the race with off-road journalist Fred Williams as his co-driver.

After retiring from his perch atop the late-night TV ratings in 2014, comedian Jay Leno has more time to partake in one of his passions: collecting cars. That is the focus of his TV show “Jay Leno’s Garage,” which showcases the “Tonight Show” veteran’s journey throughout America as he searches for unique rides and the stories behind them. Leno explores different aspects of automobiles, including the history of iconic brands, testing supercars, checking out the latest innovations, and even offering consumer advice. He also talks with fellow gearheads, including celebrities, to learn about their collections. Leno says cars, to him, are “kinetic artwork” — rather than being stagnant, it is art that is “rolling down the highway”.
“Beyond his fame as a late night host Jay Leno is a true automotive enthusiast. His show is really a testament to his love of cars from the past to the present, mild to wild. We are thrilled to have him racing with us, and share our love of off-road racing. His presence will undoubtedly bring massive mainstream exposure to The Mint 400 and off-road racing, stated Mint 400 owners Matt and Joshua Martelli.
The Mint 400 has a rich history of attracting celebrity racers. Leno joins the esteemed ranks of James Garner, Steve McQueen, Patrick Dempsey, Chuck Norris, Demarcus Ware, and Sal Masekela just to name a few. Leno’s adventures racing the Mint 400 will be featured on his TV show “Jay Leno’s Garage” exposing off-road racing to millions of automotive enthusiasts.

This years Parker 425 was one of the toughest to date. So many crashes and not that many racers made it to the finish line. Other than the dry-sump oil pump belt falling off outside pit 2 on the first lap we had a flawless race. This truck ran strong all day and never skipped a beat. We finished 22nd in class out of more than 50 TTs and the truck still looks ready to do the race again. The next race for us is the THE MINT 400 in about 3 weeks.

Toyota and Camburg Racing The Mint 400

November 01, 2016

TORRANCE, Calif., (November 1, 2016)In 1979, Toyota decided that off-road racing was a good way to demonstrate the durability of its trucks. Today, the newest addition to Toyota’s TRD collection, the Tacoma TRD Pro Race Truck debuts as a key showpiece at TOYOTA’s booth at the 2016 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show.

Camburg Racing’s Jason Campbell took the lead in building the intrepid Tacoma TRD Pro Race Truck. “This truck was built to redefine capability,” Campbell explained. “The Tacoma TRD Pro Race Truck let’s you go places most other trucks would ordinarily see only on a map.”

Tacoma is the best-selling midsize pickup for the past 10 years. The Tacoma TRD Pro Race Truck’s rugged stock 3.5-liter Atkinson Cycle Engine boasts a 4WD drivetrain with Multi-Terrain Select and Crawl Control. A beefed up suspension with FOX 2.5” coilovers with remote DSC adjuster along with front and rear Fox 3.0” Bypass Shocks with rear piggyback reservoirs make this more than an average contender.

There is no better way to showcase the rugged durability of the Tacoma TRD Pro Race Truck than by entering the “The Great American Off-Road Race”—the 2017 MINT 400.

The Mint 400 is the largest and most prestigious off-road race in America and is to be held March 1-5, 2017 in Las Vegas, NV. “The Tacoma TRD Pro Race Truck is the most badass Tacoma we’ve developed,” says John Myers, National Trucks Vehicle Marketing and Communications Manager at Toyota Motor Sales. “The Mint 400 represents the most robust example of desert racing. It’s an excellent proving ground for this special build.”

Name drivers are lined up to drive the Tacoma TRD Pro Race Truck to victory. When asked who the drivers are, Myers responded, “We’re not ready to announce yet, but let’s just say people will recognize them. Stay tuned.”

Tacoma has also won Edmund’s best resale value award: Tacoma has the highest resale value of any vehicle on the road today.

The Tacoma TRD Pro Race Truck—along with numerous other Toyota specialty vehicles—can be found in the Toyota display booth (#24800) in Central Hall and on the Patio Annex of the Las Vegas Convention Center, November 1-4, 2016.tacotuesday tacoma-trd-pro-race-truck-lowres-15 tacoma-trd-pro-race-truck-lowres-14 tacoma-trd-pro-race-truck-lowres-13 tacoma-trd-pro-race-truck-lowres-12 tacoma-trd-pro-race-truck-lowres-11 tacoma-trd-pro-race-truck-lowres-10 tacoma-trd-pro-race-truck-lowres-09 tacoma-trd-pro-race-truck-lowres-08 tacoma-trd-pro-race-truck-lowres-07 tacoma-trd-pro-race-truck-lowres-06 tacoma-trd-pro-race-truck-lowres-01 tacoma-trd-pro-race-truck-lowres-02  tacoma-trd-pro-race-truck-lowres-04 tacoma-trd-pro-race-truck-lowres-05

We are proud to release our new line of KINETIK Series billet aluminum uniball upper control arms.

CAD designed and CNC machined in-house from aircraft quality aluminum gives the ability to bring additional design elements and features to the table. The arms correct suspension geometry for better handling and drivability both on and off-road by correcting camber and caster for lifted applications. Replacing the factory ball-joint with a much larger FK 1.25” or 1.50” uniball bearing allows for more useable wheel travel with a much higher strength rating needed for the rigors of off-road use. Having FK 7/8” rod ends at the frame pivot allow for additional adjustment and zero deflection under hard use and braking. These are available for current model Toyota, Raptor and Chevy trucks.camburg_taco13

Rigid Industries is releasing there new series of LED light bars simply known as ADAPT. So our Camburg Trail Edition Tundra was requested to display the new light bars at the 2016 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. If you have a chance to get to the show this year make sure you drop  by the Rigid Industries booth to see it for yourself.
